Police Scotland are engaged in a process transformation. Research has confirmed that asset based approaches in communities where local people are supported to identify and build on their own resources, are the most powerful way to build healthy, safe communities and Chief Inspector Tony Bone from the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit worked with representatives from Fablevision during 2013 to develop a series of “listening events” designed to bring people together and initiate a two way “listening” process between the community and the Police. Funded by Creative Scotland, We Are Listening will run until December 2014. The format of the project is three artist residencies (Liz Gardiner, Susan Garde Pettie and Kathleen Friend). The three artists are developing new work (as yet undefined) that is designed to open up maximum “listening” and asset building opportunities in Govan.
